llms.txt is a markdown file at site root: H1 + blockquote summary + H2 sections with absolute-URL bullets. Proposed 2024 by Jeremy Howard. Anthropic recommends it; Mintlify auto-generates.
Google says it's not required for AI Overviews — true. But it's the highest-leverage curation file for LLM agents. Curate 20–30 links, not a sitemap dump.
Also ship llms-full.txt if under ~500K tokens, reference from robots.txt + ai.txt, serve text/plain, refresh quarterly.
